As fall fell over this Land of Enchantment, I found myself at the biggest and best fair in the state. It all started with the Parade, where I, as 'lady in waiting' for Miss Rodeo New Mexico, had the privilege of riding in Kathy Stallings truck and waving to the crowd of excited parade watchers, as we pulled the new 'official' Miss Rodeo New Mexico Trailer for it's big debut! Later that week the PRCA rodeo started and I carried the New Mexico Flag in the first four grand entries. It was the first time my horse "Mudd" had ever been in Tingley Arena, but she handled it beautifully. I had the wonderful opportunity to participate in the Exceptional Rodeo on Sunday, and my partner Elana and I had a wonderful time bull doggin' and riding broncs! As for the rodeo, Cervi put on an awesome show each night and the crowd went wild!
My fundraiser is just around the corner (November 14th), and I have been rounding up art and western mementos all the time. My latest project has been a pair of mutton buster chaps, they have been making the rounds at the rodeo and so far are signed by Taos Muncy (New Mexico Native and World Champion Saddle Bronc Rider 2007), Cody Wright (World Champion Saddle Bronc Rider 2008), and Stran Smith (World Champion Tie Down Roper 2008), plus many other rodeo greats! The chaps are one of a kind and will be auctioned off!
It is back to the fair for me, another four days and we will find out who the new New Mexico State Fair Queen is!
